On tackling anti-social behaviour
I have previously stated that the officers at Well Lane are committed to dealing positively with incidents of Anti Social Behaviour within the area.
This has been highlighted at a residents meeting which was arranged and chaired by one of my neighbourhood sergeants on the 30th June at Kings Church. A total of 50 residents from Dingle Road, Beech Court, Milton Road, Sycamore Road and surrounding roads attended the meeting.
Many incidents of anti social behaviour were discussed and it was explained to the residents that unless people are prepared to give specific details and identify the offenders there was little the police could do. The meeting concluded with many of the residents providing their details to the police so that arrangements could be made to obtain statements.
Already nine statements have been taken, photographs and video evidence has also been recovered. Five youths aged between 14 and 16 years have been identified as being responsible for various acts of anti social behaviour.
My officers are continuing to progress the matter as quickly as possible in accordance with current legislation and it is anticipated that this may well result in Anti Social Behaviour Orders being obtained to prevent such behaviour in the future and lead to a significantly improved quality of life for the residents in the area.
A further residents meeting will be held in two months time when the police will give an update in respect of progress made.
Thank you,
Inspector Mick Blease
